The Social Media Working Group is a collaborative community designed for staff members who manage and oversee social media channels at UC San Diego. This group, which is managed by University Communications, serves as a central hub for sharing best practices, staying informed about the latest trends and fostering a unified approach to social media management across the university. We also meet quarterly to go over updates and best practices. Here is how to get connected.

Connect on Our Social Media Slack Channel

Engage with the team by joining our dedicated social media Slack channel. Here, we share valuable updates, marketing toolkits and the latest news on social media trends and practices. To gain access, campus staff can reach out to univcomms-social@ucsd.edu. Note that access is restricted to UC San Diego staff members only.

Social Media Channel Directory

Regularly review and update the Social Media Channel Directory to ensure all information is current and accurate. This directory helps keep track of who is responsible for managing each channel and facilitates effective communication across teams. Note that access is restricted to UC San Diego staff members only and you must be logged in to your UC San Diego google account in order to make edits.

Campus accounts that are listed in the social media directory are considered official UC San Diego social media accounts and are expected to represent the university at all times. Our office will frequently monitor these accounts to ensure they remain reflective of university values and continue to meet the standards referenced in UC San Diego social media guidelines and best practices.
